WSU Regents Approve Major Capital Projects Across System (FY26)

  • Schweitzer Engineering Hall (Pullman Campus)
    • Budget increased to $80.4 million.
    • Expansion of ~6,000 gross square feet during design phase.
    • Funded by $40 million in state support and over $38 million in private donations.
    • Construction ongoing; expected completion in spring 2026.
  • Integrated Sciences Building (Pullman Campus)
    • $25 million state-funded project.
    • Will replace Heald Hall, which will be demolished.
    • Designed to support teaching, learning, and research.
    • Demolition and site prep scheduled for April 2026–June 2027.
  • Dodgen Hot Cell Facility (Pullman Campus)
    • New facility planned at Dodgen.
  • Anaerobic Digester (Pullman Campus)
    • Small commercial-scale digester to be installed at Knott Dairy Farm.
  • Plant Growth Facility (Wenatchee Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center)
    • $18 million project with $10 million in state funding and donor support.
    • Will support development of apple cultivars, pear rootstocks, and horticulture research.
    • Includes student training and expanded community engagement.
  • Systemwide Capital Renewal and Improvements Upgrades
    • Elevators
    • HVAC systems
    • Electrical, sewer, and steam water distribution
    • Mechanical systems
    • Network and communications infrastructure
    • Roofs, masonry, windows, and other minor repairs
  • Minor Capital Improvements and Equipment (2025–2027 Biennium)
    • $5 million in state funding received.
    • Provisional allocations include:
      • $1 million for classroom renovations (Pullman campus)
      • $1 million for network infrastructure improvements
      • $1.5 million for equipment and facility upgrades at centralized OCV space (Pullman and Spokane)
